Project Update: Beautifying Krishna's Temple Phase 2 - Temple Facade Refurbishment

Last year we undertook a major refurbishment of the temple from Govinda’s restaurant right up to the mens ashrama at the top. It took over three and a half months to complete. There has been consistently wonderful feedback from everyone about how the temple has never looked so beautiful and inspiring. But the plan was not to stop there. The outside of the temple was also in dire need of a ‘facelift’ to recover from damage done to it as a result of the construction in adjoining building and the rigours of time. Finally all the elements came into place to undertake this work. So from the week starting 12th June, scaffolding was erected to facilitate this work and the repair work commenced on Monday 19th June. This includes repairing the numerous major structural cracks throughout the facade, installing new windows and lighting and of course a beautiful new coat of paint. And upon further consideration now a complete retiling of a portion of the roof has been added to the works, as previous repairs have failed to stop leaks that are coming into the ladies ashrama. The proposed duration of work is up to four weeks. While the work is going on, there will be absolutely no impact on the restaurant or temple activities and everything is running as usual with no change to opening hours. We thank you for your patience during these essential works and request your support in well-wishes and prayers that everything proceeds nicely in continuing to 'Beautify Krishna's Temple'.

Vintage Darshan Photos

Special thank you to Prabhupada das for these special photos. He has been intimately connected with the services of Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara since their installation at Bury Place in 1969. He now lives in Australia with his wife and family.

Each year he comes to London with his wife Rajni and continues to cook offerings for their Lordships.

We are, at the moment, trying  to track down the photos that he took at Bury Place. He lent them to someone and they were never returned. If you know anything about this please let us know as soon as possible. Thank You.

Ahimsa Pujari Department

Our Pujari Council recently agreed to move towards providing Their Lordships with milk products that are not derived from the exploitation of cows.

We have now stopped using milk powder. Pujari cooks have easily adjusted to making sweets etc without milk powder. We are continuing to use approximately 100 litres of milk from the Goshala at Bhaktivedanta Manor. Also, after extensive research managed to source Ahimsa Ghee, and took our first delivery of 100kg. We are now looking at making our own yogurt with the milk that we get from the Goshala.

To help supoort you can make your donation through our online donations page.
