Govardhana Puja Offerings 2017

Once in a year opportunity to cook for Giriraj

Community members are welcome to bring your own offerings for Giri-Govardhan on Govardhan Puja day. All offerings will be placed on a 'Govardhan Hill' in the Temple Room and offered to Giriraj.

Requirements for bringing an offering

  • Following 4 regulative principles.
  • Chanting 16 rounds daily.
  • Cooking in a clean kitchen (i.e. Kitchen not used to cook meat; no onion or garlic; and well cleaned before cooking.).
  • No offerings with meat, onion or garlic.
  • Offerings cooked in clean kitchen after taking bath and wearing clean clothes.

What do we need?

Savouries, Samosa, Pakora, Dhokla, Biscuits, Dry fruits, Roasted nuts, Rice (different kinds), Rotis, Chappatis, Parathas, Sweets of different kinds (Ladoos, Khaja, Srikhand, Kheer).

What don't we need?

Chutney, Liquid preps i.e. Yogurt, Dahl, Drinks, Wet subjis, Foodstuff or sweets cooked outside in the shops.

1 aluminium foil or plastic takeaway box per offering. Container must be new (not used before).

Bringing you offering:

  • Bring your preparations before 11am on Govardhan Puja day.
  • Offerings will be collected outside the Temple room.
  • Offerings must be covered nicely and must not be offered or relished beforehand.

All offerings will be offered to Giri-Govardhana in the Temple room.
